This 2014 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6x6 is one of approximately 100 examples built in Graz, Austria, by Magna Steyr between 2013 and 2015. The truck was imported to the US under a “show or display” exemption in 2014 and was subsequently federalized by G&K Automotive Conversion. The twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8 has been modified with Weistec Engineering turbochargers, downpipes, ECU, and exhaust, and power is sent to all six wheels via an AMG Speedshift 7G-Tronic seven-speed automatic transmission, a dual-range transfer case, and five electronic differential locks. The truck is finished in Designo Magno Night Black over a designo black-and-Porcelain quilted leather interior and features bi-xenon headlights, a sunroof, Parktronic, a backup camera, blind-spot monitoring, heated and ventilated power-adjustable front seats, heated rear seats, navigation, a Harman Kardon sound system, Distronic Plus adaptive cruise control, and dual-zone automatic climate control.
The twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8 was modified by Weistec Engineering with their ECU and turbocharger upgrades, as well as 3″ stainless-steel down pipes and a Weistec exhaust. The truck is equipped with three portal axles and splits power 30:40:30 under normal conditions via an AMG Speedshift 7G-Tronic seven-speed automatic transmission, two driveshafts, and a dual-range transfer case. Five electronic differential locks can deliver 100% lockup of all six wheels.
Based on a three-axle variant of the Geländewagen produced for military use, the civilian G63 AMG 6×6 weighs over 4.5 tons and offers 18″ of ground clearance. This example is finished in Designo Magno Night Black (0056) and features tubular rear bumpers, carbon fiber fender flares, dual side-exit exhaust outlets on both sides, and a chrome roll bar.
The 6×6 features a built-in air compressor with in-cabin controls that can inflate or deflate tires based on terrain. Öhlins gas bypass shocks were standard equipment, along with stiffer springs and heavy-duty bump stops compared to the dual-axle G63.
All six 18″ Mercedes-Benz/Hutchinson beadlock wheels feature red accents with Mercedes-Benz center caps and are mounted with 37×12.5″ Pro Comp Extreme MT2 tires. A matching spare wheel is housed in the wood-paneled cargo bed. Braking is handled by cross-drilled Brembo discs at all six wheels.
The cabin offers seating for four trimmed in designo Exclusive black leather with red contrast stitching and Porcelain accents on the dashboard, center console, quilted and perforated seat inserts, and Alcantara headliner. Amenities include carbon fiber trim, power-adjustable heated and ventilated seats front and rear, dual-zone automatic climate control, COMAND navigation, a rear-seat entertainment system, a Harman Kardon LOGIC7 surround-sound stereo, and a power sunroof.
The multi-function steering wheel is wrapped in black perforated leather with Porcelain accents and frames a 280-km/h speedometer, a tachometer, and a color LCD screen along with gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. Controls for the air compressor system are mounted in the overhead console along with twin Wikai air pressure gauges and a VDO auxiliary fuel level gauge.
Approximately 5,400 miles are indicated on the digital odometer.
