This 1965 Pontiac GTO convertible was originally delivered to Brown Motor Sales, and received a body-off restoration in 2006. Work in 2023 included replacing the engine short block due to a failed camshaft as well as installing KYB shocks and Redline Radial tires. It is finished in Montero Red over red vinyl and is powered by a 389ci V8 with a Tri-Power induction setup linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a 3.55:1 limited-slip differential. Equipment includes a white convertible top, power steering, power-assisted brakes, 14″ Rally wheels, a rear bench seat, an AM radio, a Hurst shifter, and a heater.
The 389ci V8 was removed and fitted with a replacement short block in 2023. It is equipped with three Rochester two-barrel carburetors and was factory-rated at 360 horsepower and 424 lb-ft of torque. Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed Muncie M20 manual transmission and a 3.55:1 Safe-T-Track limited-slip differential.
The body was removed from the frame and refinished in its original shade of Montero Red (R) with white pinstripes during the refurbishment in 2006, at which time the Ivory White convertible top was replaced. Exterior details include stacked headlights, a hood scoop, a driver-side mirror, and chrome bumpers and trim.
The 14″ Rally wheels are mounted with Firestone Wide Oval Radial redline tires. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is provided by power-assisted brakes drums at each corner. Front and rear KYB shocks were installed in June 2024. A set of four bias ply Redline tires and OEM-style shocks are included in the sale.
The refurbished interior houses front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in red vinyl (207) along with a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and carpeting. Amenities include an AM radio, a glovebox storage light, Pontiac-branded rubber floor mats, and a heater.
The steering wheel fronts a 120-mph speedometer and a tachometer as well as gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure.
The five-digit odometer shows 12k miles, true mileage is unknown.
