This 1954 Packard convertible is finished in red over red and beige vinyl upholstery and is powered by a 327ci “Thunderbolt” L-head straight-eight paired with a two-speed automatic transmission. Features include power steering and brakes, a push-button AM radio, power-adjustable bench seat, steel wheels with chrome covers, and a power-retractable tan soft top. Work included re-coring the radiator, stripping and resealing the fuel tank, cleaning the heater box and oil cooler, and replacing the water pump, fuel pump, carpet, tonneau cover, driveshaft, soft top, and top hydraulic cylinders.
The 327ci “Thunderbolt” straight-eight was repainted in 2014, and additional work since 2012 has included installing an electric fuel pump, re-coring the radiator, cleaning the oil cooler, stripping and resealing the fuel tank, and replacing the oil pan gasket and spark plugs. The electrical system has been converted to 12 volts. Work in preparation for the sale included a timing adjustment, a carburetor rebuild, and replacement of the exhaust manifold and vacuum advance on the distributor.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a two-speed Ultramatic automatic transmission. The driveshaft was replaced in 2014.
